Why should you invest in the LeMieux Earth Dressage Saddle Pad?
I’m on a mission to gradually replace the products and services I use for my Welsh Cob, Willow, with more sustainable alternatives. Next on the list is an eco‑friendly saddle pad and a matching fly hood - because let’s be honest, matchy‑matchy is practically a requirement for some equestrians.
A quick search led me to LeMieux’s Earth range, which includes consciously crafted saddle pads made from recycled materials. Even better, the range is currently part of their winter sale, with discounts of up to 50%. I managed to snap up the Earth Dressage Square in Ocean (Large) for £25, down from the usual £49.95. The matching fly hood (Medium) was also reduced to £12.45, instead of the standard £24.45. At the time of writing, both were still in stock.
The set also comes in two other colours – ‘Moss’, a brown colour and ‘Thistle’ which is a pinky colour. You can choose between buying a dressage saddle pad or the various colours are also available as a GP option.
Shopping around
You can really save a lot by shopping around. Sometimes you still need to do it manually, because even artificial intelligence doesn’t always catch the latest discounts. When I asked Copilot to compare prices for the exact items I bought, it still showed the full retail price rather than the sale price. It did, however, highlight a few other retailers. I’m not familiar with Oakfield or Wadswick, but both list the LeMieux Earth fly hood for £15. Oakfield also sells the Earth Dressage Square in Ocean for £25, while Equiflair has it listed for £22.29 at the time of writing.
For comparison, the full‑sized Earth Dressage Square in Ocean costs £49.95 on the LeMieux website, making it the most expensive option when not on sale. The fly hood varies more widely price wise on Amazon, where it ranges from £23.50 to £31.19, depending on the size.
When the Ocean set arrived, I was really impressed by the quality of the material and my colour choice. It really suited Willow and she looked stunning. Besides the quality the range’s pad fits a wide range of saddles.
LeMieux Earth’s eco-friendly credentials
Of course, given the name, they’ve thought of the environment too. The Earth range is designed with sustainability in mind. Key features include:

LeMieux also partners with Ecologi, planting a tree for every purchase, which is a nice touch for environmentally conscious riders.
Is LeMieux’s Earth range worth it?
There are other benefits too. The labels explain that the product is soft but hard wearing. I’m not quite sure how it works but it claims to have more ‘deodorisation’ in that there is 30% less odour than cotton after exercise. I haven’t washed my set yet but according to the label it’s easy to wash and it dries faster than normal lining fabric. So far, my only critique is the limited colour range. Moss and Thistle didn’t appeal to me personally, so I’m hoping LeMieux expands the palette in time for spring and summer.
If you’re looking for a sustainable saddle pad that performs well, looks great, and offers excellent value, especially during sale season, the LeMieux Earth Dressage Saddle Pad is a fantastic choice. The quality is impressive, the eco‑friendly features are genuine, and the price (when discounted) is hard to beat.
